Project Goals
Create a relaxing experience for the player which allows them to practise mindfulness in a simple and easy way. This means Gardeners Grove is designed to be a “pick up and play” style game in which the player can play whenever they want to, and putting the game down, at any time, does not provide a stressful experience. Gardeners Grove aims to give the player a feeling of growth and self-achievement through renovating an unused overgrown space into a homely garden.
The final product deliverable should:
- Be a fully playable game available on PC.
- Have a decently sized collection of plants and decorative collectables (Enough for at least 1 hour of total gameplay).
- Allow the player to create their own personalised digital garden space.
- Have a trading and gifting function for the player to share plants between friends.
Personal Goals
- Express how I'm interested in different forms of interactivity and play. Especially non-violent games. Use that expression to open up conversations about games as a form of relaxation and how this can be used to practise mindfulness.
- Explore what helps players to relax in games and how that can be achieved.
- Create a strong portfolio piece that shows my key areas of interest in design.
